Consists of records for the Sanjon de Santa Rita land grant collected or created by Miller & Lux. Includes one volume, in vellum, issued by the General Land Office of the United States on 15 November 1862 granting Francisco Soberanes the land of Sanjon de Santa Rita. The volume includes an 1861 map of the plot created by C.C. Tracy of the U.S. Surveyor General's Office in San Francisco. Along with the volume is a copy of a Surveyor General transcript, dated 10 October 1862, confirming that the land had been surveyed. Also included is a report, dated 29 September 1885, from F.A. Hyde to Miller & Lux describing his examination of the land patent from Sanjon de Santa Rita. Attached to the report are both Spanish and English copies of Francisco Soberanes' 1841 petition to the Mexican government for a land grant, a confirmation of the grant, and a map. The collection also contains a 5 September 1888 letter from Henry Miller to James. C. Crocker concerning the settlement of suits against James Ben Ali Haggin to prevent him and his canal companies from taking water from the Kern river.
